Main stream or non Main Stream?

Basically...every Anime that you hear about constantly...like...well...
: Naruto, Bleach, Ouran, Death Note, etc...is considered Mainstream...
(And back-in-the-day, i guess Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, DBZ were considered... "Mainstream")

~Mainstream: Is something that appeals or is familiar to the masses.

Mainstream Anime usually have high fan base...(but that doesnt necessarily mean the Anime is "top-notch")...
--
Non-Mainstream is basically Anime no one has ever heard about or seen..(which doesn't necessarily make it a "bad" Anime either)
Shows Like the melancholy of haruhi suzimiya and k-on.

So what are your opinions?
