The Night Wing Chronicles: The Carlos Rodriguez Story

Book 2: Athenra’s Light

Chapter 1

“I am so ready to go to Ireland!!” Ryan said as Carlos pulled into the driveway of the house.

“Patience, child. We have a lot to plan for.” Carlos replied, stepping out of the car reading the book his mother gave him. “Some of these spells are so cheesy, it’s not even funny!!! For instance, ‘to make an object disappear, tap it twice and say ‘ “Oh Dear!”’’ Who wrote that?!?!!?”

“Our elders. Don’t knock it until you try it.” Leondra said, pointing to the car.

“What, were they 6 when they wrote it?” He countered.

“No, but it don’t hurt to try them.” Leondra replied, glowering at him.

“Leondra, he can’t bring objects back yet.” Karon said, rolling his eyes.

“Well, we can bring it back if he succeeds.” Leondra countered, gesturing Carlos to the car.

“Ok, suit yourself.” Karon countered, stepping away from the vehicle.

“To make an object disappear, tap it twice,” Carlos said, tapping the hood of the car, “and say ‘Oh dear!’” he finished as the Car vanished, leaving Sabrina floating in the air, half naked and in the same position she was in in the car.

“CARLOS!!!!!” She shrieked, pulling a towel over her top section.

“Sorry, Karon, Leondra, help.” Carlos replied, turning 8 shades of red.

“Ok. Car that’s long, car that’s black. It is gone, bring it back.” Karon said, as Leondra pointed to where the car was. It reappeared and Sabrina disappeared back under the tinted windows. Carlos frowned at them.

“It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to get the job done.” Leondra said.

“Ok, that was awkward.” Carlos said as something crashed behind them. They all turned to look toward the street, where a paper boy, who appeared about 12, had wrapped himself around a mailbox, staring at the magical fiasco. Leondra shook her head as Carlos and Karon ran to help the kid up. Ryan went to pick up the bike from the road, and they helped Carlos and Karon get the kid into Carlos’s house, where Aunt Meg was whipping around the house.

“Hey kids, did you have a fun trip, oh.” Aunt Meg said, as she saw the kid in Carlos’s arms. “I take it he saw the car incident. Well, let’s clean him up, and make sure he doesn’t have any extensive injuries. But first, ‘injured kid not at his best, Guide thyself into much needed rest.’” She incanted, as the kid fell asleep. Everyone looked at her strangely. “What? I still know some of the spells.” She casually replied, as she motioned Carlos to lay the boy on the kitchen table.

“We don’t doubt that. However, it can be dangerous for you for being out of power for so long, and not being able to regenerate it, like your nephew, your sister, and the guardians can.” Karon said, as he pulled a pair of Shades out of his pocket. He then looked over the boy, pulled the shades off, and looked back at Aunt Meg. “Well, nothing is broken; he does have a pulled muscle in his left leg, though. Probably from running into the mailbox. Leondra, can you heal him?”

“Not well. I’m weak from all the flying, and I wasn’t running hot when I left.” She replied.

“WHAT?!?!?!?! You told me you recharged yourself when you left home last week.” Karon glared at her with a big smile on his face.

“Well, I kinda forgot to complete the Ritual!” Leondra said, pouting at Karon.

“I think I can help. Let me see.” Carlos said, walking to Leondra. He was flipping pages in the spell book. He stumbled upon an “energy restoring” spell and began reading it quickly. He then grabbed Leondra in a headlock, both hands on either side of her head. She yelped a little bit out of fear, but then relaxed. Carlos’s hands started turning blue, and the blue energy went from him to Leondra, as she started glowing blue. As the blue level rose in Leondra, it shrank in Carlos, until he was almost out. He dropped his hands, and she stepped away from him.

“I feel so, up!” Leondra exclaimed, as she jumped in the air, causing a minor spark of magic to erupt beside her.

“Careful, you’re full of high level energy. It might make you a little punch drunk.” Karon warned, thinking a funny thought about her being punch drunk.

The Staff of Isis flew out of Carlos’s backpack, towards Carlos, almost clunking Ryan in the head, who glared at Carlos, and landed in Carlos’s outstretched hand. The stone started glowing a bright white, then got duller as Carlos started glowing blue. The stone then went black, flickered for a moment, then went back to a pale white. The staff flew back to the backpack and laid itself on top. Ryan looked at the staff, back at Carlos, back at the staff, and then shook his head. Karon looked lost for a second, then had the idea.

“I forgot. The Staff of Isis, once it has registered an owner, it has the ability to detect that its owner is out of energy, and can refill him or her until said person can complete the Ritual. I remember reading that earlier last month in a Warlock Monthly magazine.” Karon stated.

“Warlock Monthly?” Ryan and Carlos asked.

“Yes, Warlock Monthly. It’s this magazine we get in our dimension. It’s a mixture of everything you people get here on earth. The only difference is, you gotta specify when you order that you either want gay or straight. You’d be surprised how many gay warlocks there are in Azarath. For 2 months, we accidentally had the gay version. They send it by default. We had to call and get it clarified. That was a major mess we had to deal with. Wasn’t it, honey?” Karon said, looking at Leondra.

“So buff.” she whispered, daydreaming.

“LEONDRA!!! Focus! Get your mind on what we are doing!” Karon snapped, waving his hand in front of her face. She snapped out of her trance with a mean look on her face. Carlos stood over the kid, waved his hand over him, and the kid floated upward off the table a few inches. A blue pulse ring lit up around the kid’s feet, scanned upward, paused at the kid’s legs, pulsed brightly, and then continued upward, stopping at random parts and pulsing rapidly for a few seconds, then going back to pulsing gently. When it reached his head, it glowed a solid blue, formed a field around the kid’s face, then sealed off the crown of the kid’s head. The kid then floated back to the table, and upon landing, his eyes shot open really quickly.

“What am I doing here?” he shouted, looking at everyone in the room, and then to his bike.

“Kid, you ran into our mailbox going full force. What all do you remember?” Karon asked, shining a flashlight in the kid’s eyes.

“Nothing much, all I remember is seeing the mailbox, then blacking out. When I came to, this!” The kid said. He then moved a little bit. “Shouldn’t I be in pain for running into a mailbox? Don’t tell me I’m dead!!!” The kid shrieked, looking worried.

“You’re not dead. My aunt Meg is very good with medicine. She was a WW2 Nurse, so she knows what she is doing. She checked to see if you had any broken bones, then gave you something for pain, because you pulled a muscle in your leg. You’ll be ok, just tell your mom that you’ll need to go to a doctor. Tell her to call us if she needs any explanation.” Carlos clarified as he walked the kid to the door.

“I’ll be ok. Thanks for being there for my accident. I don’t know if I would’ve been able to handle it if I was alone. How bad did I mess up my bike?” he asked.

“You’re probably going to need a new one, sorry kid.” Karon said, rolling it out to him.

“Yikes! Ok, I’ll pull my paper route money to get a new one. Thanks again!!” The kid said, as he walked out the front door to go home.

“That was the weirdest thing. . .” Leondra started before they were interrupted by a loud scream.

“What the hell was that?” Karon shouted, as the three ran to the front door. When they got there, they were confronted by a 12 foot dog, with the kid in one of his paws. “What is that?!?!” he asked.

“It’s a Limerine.” Carlos said calmly, looking up from his book.

“A limerine, in L.A?” Leondra asked, bewildered.

“He must’ve been summoned, because it says here that they are only found on remote islands, and can be special summoned to confront a magical being to portray a message.” Carlos read, showing Karon the book.

“Special summoned? Well, Sherlock, how do you get rid of the thing?” Leondra shrieked.

“Easy.” Carlos Simply said, and slammed the book shut. He handed the book to a stunned Karon, walked in front of the dog, and yelled, “SIT BOY!!!” The Dog immediately vanished, dropping the boy in Carlos’s open arms. The boy looked up at Carlos and said, “You must be good at catching me. That’s twice in one day.”

“I’m going to have to carry you home, now, ain’t I?” Carlos replied, looking down at the boy.

“No, I should be fine. I just walked out the front door, and there was this dog. It looked friendly, but it was huge!!! I’ll be fine now. Just a little shaken up.” The kid responded, jumped down from Carlos’s arms, and ran home.

“I think we need to consider that my life will no longer be normal.” Carlos murmured as the boy skipped off.

“And why is that?” Leondra asked, overhearing him.

“Because, no normal teenager has a gem plastered to their forehead, is a prince in a foreign dimension, can handle magic, and has a boyfriend he is destined to marry already!!!!” Carlos said excitedly.

“Well, if you put it that way, you are not normal. But those things are just a small aspect of who you are.” Leondra pointed out.

“But, what if I want to be normal?” Carlos asked.

“Well, then you’ll have to face the fact that you’ll never be normal, but you’ll always have us.” Leondra countered.

“Well, if you put it that way, I guess it’s ok not to be normal. Now let’s go back to my room and try some more incantations.” Carlos stated, running back to the house, leaving a stunned Leondra on the front steps. Sabrina emerged from the car in a fresh outfit, and followed them up there.

Chapter 2

“If you guys hadn’t of screwed up, we would’ve had the Fire Heart by now!!!” King Kanashi declared, pounding his hand into the table for emphasis.

“Well, you told me your one guy you trusted couldn’t be beaten, and yet, he vanished with the Lights of Tartarus!!!” Zuza yelled at the king

“WHAT?!?!?!!? You mean the chosen one is armed with the Staff of Isis? Ok, maybe sending my best man was not such a good idea.” King Kanashi admitted to himself.

“Well, then who would be good to eliminate him?” Zuza asked.

“The best thing to get him now is to snatch the other 5 stones out from under his nose. Now, there is talk that we know where 1 is right now, right?” The king asked the council.

“Yeah, my assistant did some research, and found the Core of the Sun in Egypt.” Zuza said, as his assistant ran into the room. The assistant bowed quickly, then addressed Zuza.

“Master, they have moved it.” the assistant said quickly.

“WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? That’s not possible! There is a test that guards the stone, it can’t be moved by anyone not knowing the test, or the ancient language. . .” Zuza started.

“. . . Which I’ve researched, and discovered it is a dialect of Ancient Latin, with a mix of Greek, Arabic, Japanese Katakana, and Hebrew. So, anyone majoring in those languages can decipher bits and pieces of the message portrayed, and a team of people majoring in all those languages can translate the entire message. Just this afternoon, such a group was wondering in the Egyptian Desert, when their leader fell into a sand pit. The other team members went to pull him out, but they discovered a passageway under the sand. It led to the ancient city of Hamunaptra. They found The stone, and after passing the test, they moved it to a museum in Cairo. It is under so much surveillance, it will take a mastermind to get it.” The assistant said, looking at the king.

“We might have one. There is someone who is an expert art thief. She is behind the last 47 art steals in the Western Hemisphere alone. She is as elusive as Carmen Sandiego, if not more so.” The king said. “She is part witch, and she has a lot of connections in the black market to get her out of anything. All I need to do is call one of her many cell phones, and we will be in business.”

“Ok, who is she?” Zuza asked, intrigued.

“Her name is Christina, but she goes by Sassy Lynn. She is The best in the business. I’ll put my contractors in contact with her immediately. She’ll meet you at Ben Gurion International Airport tomorrow. You need To go now to make it there on time. Dismissed, and no screw ups, or I will have some spots to fill.” The king said, Stood up, and left the room in a flourish of his cape. The kings’ advisors got up and followed.

Chapter 3

“ . . . I know you want him gone by tomorrow. I just can’t do that for pennies. If you wanted a penny contractor, hire one. Otherwise, pay me what I’m due, and what we agreed on. $20 million now, and another $30 million once you get word the job is done. Now, do we have an agreement, or am I to come after you next?” A lady inquired in flawless German as she got off a train in Zurich. She was dressed in a bright red raincoat even though it wasn’t raining. She was also in a bright red fedora, with shades that concealed her face. She was known around the world as Ninja Girl, but her friends, and a select few of others, knew her as Sassy Lynn. Her target for today was a banker for the Bank of Switzerland. He had run off with about $5billion in gold bricks, and was on his way to Australia to invest it in ocean front property. Not if she stopped him.

“Ok, Ninja, you win. You’ll have the money you asked for. Just don’t hurt me.” her contractor said in terror.

“I won’t kill you, unless you don’t get my money.” She said with a sly smirk.

“You’ll get your money, trust me. You’ll find your target on Train 6 to Auschwitz. He’s wearing a blue suit.” her consultant said.

“I see him. I’ll get him. Bye.” she replied, closing the phone. She quickly boarded the train, took a quick look around to see what the servers were wearing, and pulled off her raincoat. Her outfit underneath matched the others’ uniforms perfectly. She followed one back to the dining car, and grabbed a champagne order for the gentleman. As she walked back to him, she looked at the label, and couldn’t help but smile. She knew she had the right guy, for he had ordered a $500 bottle of Wine for himself, with instructions for the servers to bring 4 more bottles to him before the train stationed in Auschwitz. She quickly slipped the vial from around her neck, uncorked it, and poured its contents in the glass, as she added the wine. She approached the guy smoothly, and just as she was about to offer it to him, a lady next to the guy stood up and slapped him. He got up and looked Stunned at her, then noticed the wine. “You’re a little early, don’t you think.” the guy sneered at the waitress.

“No sir, we were told to be here at 6:15 for the first bottle, and it is now 6:16. I’ve already took the liberty of pouring your first glass. It’s a tradition on this train here. You’re VIP.” the lady replied in flawless German.

“Ok, miss. You win. What is this, anyway?” he said, looking at the bottle. He read the label, raised an eyebrow, and smelled the wineglass. “This is good. Must be very expensive.” With that, he drank the entire glass in 1 swig. He held out the goblet for another drink to be poured, but then his vision started blurring. “What the hell?” he said, reaching in front of him and swiping at nothing. He managed to get up and get to the bathroom, as the server called for her supervisor to help the man. He collapsed behind the door, and died.

She casually slipped out of the car, went to a bathroom, and slipped out of her waitress outfit. She then went to the back of the train and leapt into the night.

Chapter 4

“Yes, Principal Seville, I’m aware education is a very valuable asset. I’m also aware that he has had to deal with some things. No, he’s not doing drugs. Yes, I’ll explain to him that he needs to catch up, but as you are aware, he just flew back from Indiana this morning. He also has to fly to Ireland in a couple of days, and is going to be gone for a week. He has had a death in the family. You have to understand that. Yes, I’ll be up there to pick up his work.” Aunt Meg said, as she hung up the phone.

“That was your principal. He said that he has half a notion to expel all 3 of ya’ll. Luckily, I talked to him, and explained that there was a death in the family, and that Carlos needed you 2 for support. I’m to go pick up his schoolwork from the principal tomorrow. No doubt that you’ll have it finished it by the afternoon.” Aunt meg scoffed.

“Of course.” Carlos said, as The trio took off for his bedroom, followed by Karon and Leondra. Once they got there, Carlos was already reading more from the book. He had the Fire Heart and The Blue Eye sitting on his dresser. They were sitting on either side of his Staff of Isis. “Ok, here’s something interesting. The lights of Tarterus is an attack that sucks the ambient darkness from an area, and uses it as light against its opponent. For example, when you used the lights on Amaris, he was filled with so much darkness, that it practically destroyed him when it transferred to light. It can be used in its opposite effect as well. For example, if a room is filled with light, you can use the staff to darken it.”

“That makes perfect sense. So, what else do we have in that book?” Ryan asked, as he Was playing around with A baseball in the room.

“It can turn back time, heal minor wounds, and produce lightning.” Carlos said, not looking up from the book.

“Huh.” Leondra Scoffed, coming over to where Karon was sitting on Carlos’s laptop.

“Actually, it is true. Hey guys, come look at this.” Karon said, pulling up a satellite image of Stonehenge.

“Cool, is that in Ireland?” Carlos asked, pulling up a chair next to Karon.

“Yeah, they found a way to move the stones from their home in England, to a place in Ireland. They say that where they are sitting at now, with the way the land is, it looks like they were originally there.” Karon said.

“I think we found our next stone. Guys, get ready for the trip!” Carlos said, closing the book.

“Hold it!” Karon said, As a MSN web news report box popped up.

“What now?” Ryan and Sabrina said, As they came over to the laptop.

“. . . and In world news, a statue of a Sphinx clutching a yellow crystal has been stolen from the Cairo International Museum. It has been rumored that this stone is known as the Core of the sun. It was recently discovered by archaeologist Dr. William Oliver, grandson of the late Dr. Thomas Oliver, in the ancient city of Hamunaptra. Interpol is currently gathering eyewitness statements from curators and guards, but so far, no leads have been found on who is behind the theft, nor the purpose.” A blonde newscaster said.

“Guys, that’s not good. Do you think that stone was one of the 8?” Leondra asked.

“I don’t think it was, I know it was. We need to get to Ireland now!” Carlos said, sliding the book his mom gave him in one of the bags already packed.

“Ok, that’s what I like to hear. Sabrina, how soon can you be ready?” Ryan Asked, shoving her out of the window.

“I’ll be ready in 5. I’m already packed.” she said, running over to the house. She climbed into her window from the tree, and was back through Carlos’s window with a big suitcase.

“Ok, Sabrina’s ready, Ryan’s ready. We are flying by private jet.” Carlos Announced, as he stacked the suitcases onto the luggage cart in his room. Karon and Leondra inhaled sharply, and he wheeled on them. “guys, I know this pilot. He’s been in my family for years. He’s not in league with the rogues.”

“Whatever. You know if your mom was here, she’d ring your neck for trusting somebody outside our family that isn’t one of us.” Karon admonished.

“Who said he wasn’t one of us?” Carlos countered, looking pointedly at Karon, and wheeled the luggage cart to the car. Leondra shrugged her shoulders, Ryan picked up Carlos’s backpack, slid the Staff of Isis in it, and walked past Karon, saying “You worry too much.” they all got in the car, and left for the airport.

Chapter 5

Sassy Lynn arrived in Auschwitz in the back of a goat truck. When she got off, her red coat was muddy And smelled bad. She went to the nearest hotel, and rented a room for 3 days. She had just purchased the room when her cell phone rang. “Hello?” She answered innocently.

“Nice work in Zurich. Hold did you manage to get a vial of Essence of Unicorn so quickly? Those are usually found on black markets, underground black markets at that.” the voice on the other end commented.

“I have my connections, who are you, and what do you want of me?” She asked, getting curious and angry at the same time.

“Chill, Sassy. It’s Zuza. I have another job for you. Your last contractor has been contacted, and you have been paid. $35 million, in your accounts in Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Russia, and Ireland, which is where you are going next. My job, however, will make that look like a lunch money robbery in comparison. $55 billion, another $10 million in gold Bricks, a yacht named the ‘Renovatio’ , and an island called ‘Isla de la Muerte’. I was told you wanted to retire. This is the perfect setup to do it.” Zuza said.

“Ok, now you have my attention. Where am I headed in Ireland?” Sassy asked.

“Stonehenge.” Zuza replied calmly.

“Wait a minute, I thought you were sending me to Ireland, not England.” she said.

“Stonehenge was moved to Ireland about 3 years ago.” Zuza sighed.

“Ok, so how am I getting there?” She asked.

“My contact will be arriving shortly. He is checking you out of the hotel, and into a really fine place, before you head to Ireland. I mean, that rat trap you’re in, it’s not worth $150 a night.” Zuza continued, as a man in a black business suit pulled up out front. He was driving a silver Lamborghini Gallardo. He jingled the keys, looked at sassy, and pointed at her.

“Hmm, tall, dark and handsome! I wonder if he’s available.” She mused, as he walked towards her, not taking off his shades. If he did, his eyes would look like they were burned by a pure light source. The truth was, they were, but he himself survived the attack by absorbing the light through a crystal he had embedded on his contacts at the time. It still burnt his retinas, but didn’t destroy him, and only gave him a slight marring of his eyesight.

“He is single, but don’t get any wild ideas.” Zuza warned, as Amaris dropped the keys in her hand.

“Ok, fine, whatever. It better be worth it, or I’m hunting you down.” She snapped, as she clutched them tightly. A hotel employee came up to her as she was hanging up. “You’re checking out, Miss?” she asked politely.

“Yes, I am. This place isn’t worth $150 a night. Here’s the key to my room, and don’t worry about giving me back my security deposit. I don’t need a trail.” She snapped, glaring at the girl.

“Yes Miss. Have a good day.” The hotel clerk said, sighing with relief, and practically scampered away. Once she was gone, Sassy sized up her escort.

“So, is there a reason why you’re helping me? Zuza usually don’t send more than one person to a job. It must be big, then.” She asked him.

“Usually, that is the case. However, my team made a mistake on underestimating our opponent, and some of them paid for it with their lives. I am only around because I made a smart decision in the midst of the battle. The guys you are going up against, they are really tough. If you don’t beat this team there, another battle may ensue, one that is Totally based around,” he looked around the lobby, and whispered, “the ‘m’ word.” Amaris informed her, scooting her to the door of the hotel.

“Ok, I’m trusting Zuza on this one. If I feel you are A risk to me, I’m cutting you loose. Got it?” Sassy said, stepping into the driver’s side of the Lambo.

“Yes Miss. You are very striking when you take charge. I wonder if you have broken hearts like that.” He said, smiling.

She laughed haughtily, and slammed the car into drive. She floored it out of the hotel, and into the approaching night.

Chapter 6

Carlos and the group pulled into LAX at 10 AM. “Now, where are we gonna meet your pilot at?” Leondra asked.

“He’s waiting for us in Hangar 13.” Carlos said, as a security guard flagged them down. “Oh great. Security. Guys, hide the staff. These guys are rogues in disguise.” Carlos said, seeing through them.

“You used Foresight in public?!?!?!? That’s not a cool thing to do!!!” Karon admonished again.

“Relax, they didn’t see me use it, and if it comes down to it, we can take them.” Carlos said as he drove the car to where they were being directed.

“Sir, can you pop your Trunk, step out of the vehicle, and have your passengers Do the same?” one of the guards asked.

“Leave them alone, they’re with me.” another voice called from a black motorcycle. A guy stood up off the bike. He appeared to be about 40 ish, but had a youthful appearance. “Guys, you don’t have to do what they said. Head to the hangar, I’ll handle them.”

“Yes sir.” Carlos said, As he floored the car to hangar 13.

“Ok, you guys really don’t want to deal with him, so why don’t you back off, and go back to your posts? That way, if I have to kick your asses, it won’t look that bad.” The guy said.

“You don’t know what you’re messing with. So why don’t you go back to where you came from, and just walk away?” the lead guard sneered, as he peeled the hat off his head. On his head, he had a pair of green horns.

"As A matter of fact, I do." the guy said, as he pulled his cane from his side. It had A small steel ball as the handle, and looked really heavy. "I'm gonna tell you one more time, back off, or you will regret it."

"Old man, we have been in this game longer than you have. That little cane of yours won't even phase us." The leader of the group said, as he pulled a small dagger from underneath his guard's uniform. The others pulled throwing stars and knives from various pockets on their uniforms.

"Maybe so, but I can also use it as this." He said, as he pulled the cane apart, To reveal A steel blade. With that, he leapt on the first guy, slashing the dagger from his hand. he then attacked the other 3-4 guys, disarming them, and leaving them on the ground. He hopped back on his bike, And followed Carlos and his group to the hangar. when he got there, Carlos was unloading the car into a Sleek new jet. "Hey guys, sorry about that. I didn't think they would find you here, but I was wrong." He said.

"So, I was right, they were rogues?" Carlos asked.

"Yes they were, now you guys really need to get out of here. Carlos, I know you've always wanted to do this, so I'm gonna say it now. you got the controls for the plane, I'll take care of communications." the guy said.

"thank you, uncle Press." Carlos said, running to the pilot seat.

"Press?" Leondra asked him.

"Short for Preston, but his family has called me press for years. I'm what you guys would call an acolyte. so, this is nothing new to me." Press said, as he helped them load the rest of the luggage. "Ok, so, you have the flight plan to Ireland?" Karon asked.

"sure. I made sure of it. We'll be there in about 5 hours." Press smiled, as a hint of an emerald flashed in one of his teeth. they geared the plane up, and set course for Ireland.

Chapter 7

“You let them get away!” a lower ranked rogue named Kashi Ningori said to the ground team of rogues stationed ready To attack Carlos and his team at the Airport.

“It wasn’t our fault. They were heavily protected.” The ground operative, Navioni Eclanashi said.

“Heavily armed or not, you still outnumbered them. Besides, His uncle Press was weak, if Carlos would’ve joined the battle, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now. We all know he’s headed To Ireland. I’m calling the higher ups, and staging another attack once he arrives.” Kashi snapped.

“Higher ups, you mean Zuza?” They warbled.

“That’s exactly who I mean, you guys had your shot, now it’s the Higher ups’ turn to deal with them. Rumor has it that Ireland will be a power siphon for Carlos. It should make for easy pickings.” Kashi smiled, as he dialed his boss, who reported to Zuza.
